Abstract
From the beginning, the research unit 1612 „Mechanisms of Elite Formation in the German Educational System“ aims to implement the research-oriented standards on gender equality of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and to improve its own gender equality.
The measures are orientated on standards on gender equality of the German Research Foundation. They focus on:
- 1. Empowering the staff members to combine family and academic career.
- 2. Accommodating individual life plans
- 3. Organizing academia and research as a family friendly workplace.
These measures are embedded in an individual concept of facilitation. It contains three emphases, which we identified as essential aspects for staff members of the research unit. To these belong:
- Consistent information for woman about offerings and options,
- Securing work-life balance by supporting and helping at childcare, when nursery school are closed or other reasons
- Supporting at publishing independently, especially dissertation.
